Advanced Culinary Update
Hello Roadrunners
This week, our Advanced culinary students were visited by Chef Kirshore once again; however this time, they were tasked to not only recreate his dish but more so, reinvent the dish using their own personal flair. Chef Kirshore assisted in the preparation of each student’s dish but provided credible feedback during the process. Each group (pair) did a great job in their creations; however, gained a lot of knowledge.
Looking ahead into next week, we will begin our unit of the Principles of Cooking. During this init, we will discuss the various ways to prepare meat and vegetables while continuing to promote our knowledge of flavors and flavorings.
As a reminder, mark your calendars, on Saturday, Oct 29th, the Advanced Culinary class will be working collaboratively with the other electives to create an “Elective Showcase”. The students in Adv. Culinary will be responsible for creating their own hors d’Oeuvres creation. This will provide our students the opportunity to showcase their very own creation and allow our community the opportunity to taste it. We hope you all come out in support of the showcase and taste some great creations. Date, time, cost for the event will be broadcasted at a later date.
I will continue to post as much of our classroom activities as possible on our schools/district Facebook page with photos and videos. So if you haven’t done so already, please follow us on Facebook.
Also, I want to thank you all for your generosity, because as you may already know, your donations and support allow us to truly delve into the curriculum in a way that allows our students to utilize equipment and create dishes they normally would not have the opportunity to do otherwise. Please continue to look out for our Donors Choose and/or SignUp Genius requests.
Thank you for all the support,
Mr. Edwin Ramos, M.Ed.
