San Tan JROTC Weekly Update

 In JROTC

Hello Roadrunners

This past week, the cadets in the JROTC program have delved more into drill and ceremonies in preparation of our Color Guard debut on September 9th at San Tan Charter School. Our cadets have been taking part in PT uniform inspections as well as, camouflage uniform inspection, and facing movements. Each cadet this week had to introduce themselves to another cadet which they normally do not associate with. This exercise is to ensure we build camaraderie, teamwork, and Esprit de Corps amongst the cadets and the program. Many cadets have taken on the role of squad leader and have been placed in charge of approximately 6 cadets in their specific squad. They have been tasked with ensuring those cadets who fall under them are holding to the standards of the JROTC program.

Looking ahead into next week, we will continue to work on jargon, alphabet, 24 hour clock, leadership skills, drill, and rank structure. Adding rank structure will allow our cadets to understand hierarchy within the JRTOC program. This will also enforce the ideology of leadership, as those students will be tasked with representing themselves as leaders in the program and in the school community. As we draw near Labor Day weekend, we will also identify cadets that have demonstrated they are prepared to receive the next rank.

As we continue to grow the JROTC program, we ask for your support through various donations. Your donations allow us to ensure we have the necessary supplies and equipment our students will use throughout the course. In addition, please continue to look out for our SignUp Genius and Donors Choose links. These two sites allow our supporters to know exactly what is needed to ensure our programs are successful.

As a FYI, I will try to post our activities as much as possible on our schools/district Facebook page with photos and videos. So if you haven’t done so already, please follow us on Facebook.

Thank you for all your support, ‘

Mr. Edwin Ramos, M.Ed.
