Weekly Update

In Family & Consumer Science, Life Connections

Hello Roadrunners,
This week was filled with fun and great smelling desserts. The students participated in a lesson pertaining to desserts and then had the opportunity to make their own “Chocolate Chip Cookie Ice Cream Sandwiches”. They learned how to created their very own cookies and vanilla ice cream from scratch and had a great time doing it. The students did an incredible job that they wanted to share with teachers and friends throughout the school. Since it is a long weekend, I suggest having your child(ren) make some for you and enjoy the evening.

Next week, we will be concentrating on a unit called “Egg Baby”. This unit will be comprised of various activities and responsibilities our students must face when maintain an “egg baby”. I ask that each student bring to school on Tuesday, February 22nd, (1) hard-boiled egg. On Tuesday they will begin their unit by decorating/drawing their “egg baby”; in addition, they will be tasked to construct a carrier for their “egg baby”, so they may bring any materials they would need to construct this carrier on Tuesday as well. I will send out a rubric with an itemized list of items needed for this project as well.

If you need any assistance or have any questions about how you can support us and your student further, please feel free to contact me at eramos@santancharterschool.com

Thank you and see you all next week,
Mr. Ramos, M.Ed.
