Culinary I Update
This week our culinary I students completed their unit on “mise en place”. This unit detailed the reasoning behind being organized in the kitchen. The students in culinary I were then tasked to display their understanding of “mise en PLace” by working in small groups to prepare to cook a dish consisting of Chicken tenders, Roasted Seasoned Corn, French fries, and homemade honey mustard.
Looking into next week, our students will enter a unit of Principles of Cooking. This unit will concentrate on the various transfers of heat as well as, determining doneness.
Also, a SignUp Genius has been created for our annual Charlie Brown Thanksgiving which will take place on Wednesday, November 23rd. The Advanced Culinary students will be challenged to cook for the whole school community and their families. As it has been a tradition at San Tan, we look to continue this tradition; however, we look for the support of our community to ensure this is a success. Please be advised that all ingredients must be on hand by November 18th, 2022. THis will allow the culinary students to inventory all food items and make any necessary adjustments. The link to the signUp Genius is as follows:

Lastly, if anyone is interested in being a guest presenter or if you wish to donate to the San Tan Culinary program you may do so by contacting me at eramos@santancharterschool.com, or continue to look for our Donors Choose and/or SignUp Genius requests.
Thank you very much for all the support you have given us,
