Culinary I Weekly Update
Hello Roadrunners
This week ended our 4 week unit on Hazardous Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), and I am excited to announce that our students have passed the required Food Handler’s Certification. This certification is a 3 year certification which may allow them to work in the food service industry, if they choose to. In celebration of their accomplishment, we ended the week with them making their very own crepes.
Looking ahead into next week, we will begin a new unit concentrating on nutrition. During this unit the students will learn the importance of nutrition and how it is related and implemented within the culinary world and their personal lifestyle. To end the unit, our students will work together to make a chef salad and their very own Bacon Ranch Dressing.
As a FYI, I will try to post our activities as much as possible on our schools/district Facebook page with photos and videos. So if you haven’t done so already, please follow us on Facebook.
As we continue to grow the culinary program we ask for your support through various donations. Your donations allow us to ensure we have the necessary ingredients for our students to use and learn from. In addition, please continue to look out for our SignUp Genius and Donors Choose. These two programs allow our supporters to know exactly what is needed to ensure our programs are successful.
Thank you very much for all the support you have given us,
Mr. Edwin Ramos, M.Ed.
